In this newsletter: A lunch in New York where I learned I don't remember how to interact with people properly, how we discovered that apple-picking is not a thing in apple-famous Normandy, two things I'm looking forward to, and the easiest stroganoff recipe ever.
Apple picking (but also various fruits and vegetables) are actually quite a thing in France ! My mom often took us to pick strawberrys or peas when we were kids and now I take my daughter ! Search for a "cueillette" in google and you should find many farms. This one http://www.cueillette-la-frestellee.fr/ is only half an hour away from you I think.
Since the pandemic, I not only have trouble with social interactions, I don’t even want most social interactions. I’m slowly emerging from my hibernation, but, man, it’s tough. Loved the apple orchard video!
Your book arrived at my house today!! But also ??? Would my local bookstore have accidentally been following the original publishing date? Anyway I'm thrilled and can't wait to read it.
I flew into NYC this morning from Phoenix for Alt Summit and I felt so out of place with my clothing. Arizona is so casual and NYC is not! Oh well! Looking forward to meeting you on Friday and I’m sure I’ll have you beat on awkwardness! ;)
We go to a little apple juice making party up the street where we are (in Noisy le Grand) and you can help turn the old crank to crush the apples. You can buy the fresh juice in big bottles for €2 and there are stands with homemade cakes and tarts, music, and other fruits as well. We've missed being able to go the last couple years to get in the fall spirit.
Living in Lodi we have to go up to Apple Hill (Placerville) for our apple needs. Closer to home we have places where you can pick strawberries and cherries.

Rusty people skills are the norm now -- no one will bat an eye!
Maybe you and your family will start an apple-picking trend in Normandie. It never occurred to me that this could be a thing in our region, but last month a family member tipped us off to an apple-picking spot in Toulouse, of all places: https://actu.fr/occitanie/toulouse_31555/bon-plan-dans-ce-verger-de-toulouse-on-peut-cueillir-soi-meme-ses-pommes-bios-a-petits-prix_53385321.html
I'd be so thrilled to find pumpkin-picking farms in Occitanie...

Hi and good luck on the conference. Such an important topic and I like your perspective on the issue .
I really wanted to comment on your publisher lunch. I immediately thought of Julia Child’s first lunch with her publisher!!
Again, good luck.
We love apple picking! It’s one of our fall traditions!
Sending good vibes for your conference!

No apple picking but most have apple trees in own yard.
