We are perhaps moving up our plans to move to France ~ I'm wondering if you'll cover anything about moving pets? And, on a less practical note, living far away from adult children? (We both have French nationality already (whew), so that part is ok ~)

Thank you for posting the Planet Critical article link. I haven't read the article yet (need the right headspace to be further pissed), but I know there have been articles pre and post election about the integrity of voting machine software. Besides opportunities for hacks over the life of a machine, there is also the fact that some companies initial software (coding) is not secure from beginning to end of manufacture/install. Sure there is verification testing, but election timeframes are the moment of truth, not testing when some issues have proven to go uncovered. Like WTAF?! While I'm not very hopeful about calls for hand recounts, they seem like something that would be an obvious check for at least a few swing state key counties to ensure the machine is proving consistent to paper ballots. I'm glad the issue and concerns are getting some coverage and I thank you for sharing it to your community.

My family is planning a trip to Denmark this summer, with our three kids. It was being planned before the election, but I’m not doing to lie, it’s now a bit of a ‘could we live here’ trip too. My biggest worry is my 10 year old with disabilities; otherwise we might have already moved years ago!

Uuuuuuh would like to learn more about that whole election hacking theory that's terrifying! And Elon is a complete POS who would pull something like that.

Amazing ideas. I also liked this perspective from another American expat.

I’m bothered about the ballot stories because I want to believe them so badly. It feels less scary to believe in ballot tampering than to believe that MAGA voters are actually that full of hate and that ignorant.

Thanks for moving to Bluesky. You were the last reason I was on Threads. Although stuff is still depressing on Bluesky, at least wimpy Zuckerberg has nothing to do with it.

As far as I can tell from afar, the countries people talk about moving to often have their own far right political movements and/or cultural elements that the people would not agree with. Is this generally understood? I can’t tell if people consciously want to trade this countries challenges in order to engage with a different country’s challenges and joys (possibly without knowing the languages) or that they are essentially political refugees who know they will be prosecuted and need to flee for safety or that they hope to live in an idealized version of a country. If anyone has links to share or insights I’m sincerely curious, thank you.
