In this newsletter: The three states we'll be visiting on our trip to the U.S., 12 tips for hosting the perfect picnic, how to build simple crate shelves, a lovely home tour in Atlanta, and an update on my Nephew and his babies.
Hoping you have a wonderful and safe trip. For your kids to revisit places and things that they love is pretty special. I love living in England and if I didn't have family in the U.S. I'd probably never go back for a number of reasons. But I do and they'll come to visit (yay!) but I need to go back to Washington state to see my two sisters both with health problems that prevent them from coming to visit me. It's a dilemma that I'm struggling with and I don't have a very big window to decide. Wish me luck.
Hope you all have a wonderful trip. As a Canadian expat child, raised in Asia in the 50s and 60s I understand about not being “home” for years on end. For us, 3 year gaps were common. Anticipation and arrival in Canada were super exciting. Early days of the trip were great. But soon I was ready to go back to our adopted country and MY home. All perfectly normal in the life of an expat kid!
hi, would love to sing up to the book launch group but it says by invite only (even if i sign in with the substack subscription to your newsletter). is it still possible to join?
I just read your niece's twitter thread, which was horrifying and terrifying. I'm so sorry she and her family are going through this. I can only hope that this ordeal results in a major exposé and change to an abusive, ignorant system. Really, I don't know whether to scream or cry.

Close friends of mine had nearly the exact same experience as your nephew and his wife. It’s too terrible. I’m so sorry.

Would love to join the book launch group but the link says it's "invite only." Any chance to still join?
