I feel horrible for that woman’s family! How could anyone think the family should PAY for this tragedy/travesty? It’s hard for me to believe anyone could be this cruel, even knowing how badly black women are treated in the medical field.
I’m curious if kids in France have summer jobs? Is it as normal as it is in the US? Also, I had never heard this story about Adriana Smith and I’m so glad you are highlighting what is happening to her and her family. It’s absolutely horrific and I am so scared about what is happening in our country. Please keep us all informed and thank you for always sharing what you have learned
Hi Gabrielle, I am curious to see the source statistics for this “The number one cause of death among pregnant women is murder by the man who impregnated them.” come from. Is this in the whole world? The U.S.? Certain less affluent countries? Thanks! I couldn’t find any statistics to back this up when I looked- I didn’t have a lot of time so I had to stick a pin in it for now.
Thanks Gabrielle! I’m reading this 2022 article which is citing other articles, but haven’t yet found the actual study. I’ll keep at it. Interestingly the article states homicide is “a” leading cause of death and also speaks as if homicide is “the” leading cause. Off to investigate more! I wonder if the statistics are still showing homicide as a or the leading cause in 2025.
I’m so sad and so angry about what’s happening to this Dead Woman Incubator! Why are there laws against abortion anyway? Has it something to do with the sacredness of the human body? Something is badly amiss here.
But I also want to share in your Joy as your family gathers. Bless you.
Adriana Smith deserved better. We all deserve better. Thank you for writing, Gabrielle. I’ll look forward to reading your writing every day this month, and to supporting you in this quest to metabolize and make sense of what’s happening in our world. Thank you for sharing your compassionate insights. And your angry ones. All of them, all of you. Grateful!

I can't even imagine getting a bill from the hospital for this and not losing my mind.

I see now the article you linked is saying in the U.S.

Thank you for putting this up—I too think about her so often…and what it means for all of us
