Why In The World Did You Run For Office?
When the number one priority is "owning the libs."
Americans: Here’s this problem that we can all see (gun violence, failing infrastructure, voting access, etc.). We’ve come up with an idea to fix it. We asked America, and 78% of people agree they want to try the solution we came up with. Okay, political leaders, now it’s your turn. Please make our very popular solution a new policy/law.
Republicans: Hold up. Are you telling us this is something the Democrats want?
Americans: Yes, not all of them, but lots of them do. And lots of Republicans want it too. Did you see the thing about 78% approval? It’s very popular.
Republicans: So you’re saying we have a choice. Choice A: We can pass this policy that is highly popular among Americans and will solve an obvious problem that we can all see and acknowledge. Or Choice B: We can NOT pass the policy in order to “own the libs”. We choose Choice B.
Americans: But why? Why in the world? This is a really good idea and by far most Americans support it. So your constituents — whether they are conservative or liberal — will be glad you voted yes. Who benefits by you voting no?
