I Mean… Is This For Real??
The Washington Post reviewed my book??!!! I can hardly believe it. Click here if you’d like to read the article by Kimberly Harrington.
My favorite line:
“Blair’s fresh reframe should be required reading for any person who has sex, wants to have sex or is raising someone who might have sex in the future. This slender book has what it takes to be the foundation for a movement.”
Last night, Ben Blair and the kids helped me make a little video to announce the review. It’s a very silly video and it makes me smile.
Now we want to make more little videos for other exciting articles. For example:
Vogue Wrote About My Book!
I love this interview feature in Vogue so much. The reporter, Michelle Ruiz, asked terrific questions and it really felt like a conversation. I liked her observation that some of the ideas I bring up in the book are hiding in plain sight. She writes:
“Ejaculate Responsibly alternately provokes dawning recognition (many points feel like they’ve been hiding in plain sight) and simmering rage.”
And speaking of good conversations:
The Yahoo! Life Unmuted Episode Is Out!
I was interviewed by Brittany Jones Cooper for this episode, and Ben Blair says this is his favorite video about the book. The day after we shot this interview at the Yahoo! offices in New York, Brittany interviewed me on stage at Alt Summit. She’s such an incredible interviewer.
Here’s a little snippet of the interview I shared on Instagram. Or you can watch the whole thing.
And one more exciting bit of news:
NPR Published a Q&A About My Book
The reporter, Sarah McCammon, told me when she called that she just needed a quote for an article she’s working on about vasectomies — but then she messaged me this morning and said she like our conversation so much that she wanted to make it a standalone article, and she published our Q&A today. So cool!
Have 30 Seconds? Please Rate My Book
One little request: If you are happy about the book, please head over to Amazon and give it a rating or review. If you only have 30 seconds, you can just choose a number of stars (I hope you choose 5!) and click submit. If you have a whole minute, you can rate the book plus leave a quick review — it can be super simple, maybe just list an argument from the book. Even if you didn’t purchase the book on Amazon, you can still rate the book on Amazon.
I know lots people avoid shopping on Amazon, but Amazon reviews still function as a helpful resource for anyone considering a book or product, so they are still really important. Plus legitimate reviews help drown out the spam reviews! And sadly, spam reviews have already started heading my way. : (
Setting aside the spam reviews, this Book Launch Week has been exciting and celebratory! Thank you for joining in on the celebrations. I appreciate your comments and posts and encouragement so much.
That’s all for now. Feel free to comment on anything I mentioned above, or whatever’s on your mind.
kisses,
Gabrielle
P.S. — I still need to update the latest numbers on books sent to governors, senators, and SCOTUS justices, this blog post is where I’m keeping track and I will try to update the maps today!
Done & Done
BRAVO GABBY!
